MapApp: Bringing Learning to Life with Interactive Posters
At AppWorks, we’ve always believed that technology has the power to make learning more engaging, inclusive, and effective. That’s why we’re incredibly proud of our latest innovation — MapApp, a hybrid educational tool that combines the tactile power of printed posters with the dynamic possibilities of digital learning through a mobile app.
MapApp was born out of a simple but powerful question: How can we help students engage more deeply with educational material using tools they already love — like their phones? Our answer was to reinvent one of the most classic classroom resources: the wall poster.
Each MapApp Interactive Poster is enhanced with embedded QR codes that students can scan using the MapApp mobile application. In just a few seconds, printed information is transformed into rich digital experiences — whether it's additional text, interactive illustrations, short quizzes, or video content. All the information is categorized by topic, school grade, and subject, making it easy for students to dive deeper and learn at their own pace.
Grant Funding from the Innovation Fund of Serbia
We’re honored to share that MapApp received funding from the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia as part of their 2022 support program for innovative companies. Out of more than 250 applications, MapApp was selected as one of 13 top projects for its originality, scalability, and impact on the education sector.
The Innovation Fund’s backing has helped us move quickly — from prototype to rollout. It enabled us to invest in content development, app design, classroom testing, and distribution to schools and educational institutions across the country.
A Classroom Companion that Travels
Since launching, MapApp has already made its way into classrooms throughout Serbia. Teachers are using it to supplement traditional lessons, while students are exploring topics in a more interactive and personalized way. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive — learners feel more motivated, while educators appreciate how easily it integrates with their existing curriculum.
This is just the beginning. We're working on expanding MapApp to cover more subjects and grade levels, and we’re actively exploring partnerships to bring the posters to schools across the region — and eventually across the globe. Our development team is also introducing new features in the app, including gamified learning paths, AI-powered content suggestions, and analytics tools to help teachers track engagement.
